EUNIC(欧州連合文化機関)とチェコセンター東京が行ったプロギングイベントRun with Europe for a cleaner worldのクロージングイベントが在日チェコ共和国大使館のチェコセンター東京で開催され、ベスト・プロガー賞を受賞し、授賞式に出かけてきました。

プロギングとは？

プロギングの始まり

プロギング(plogging)はジョギングしながらゴミを拾う新しいSDGsフィットネスです。スウェーデン語の「plocka upp(拾う)」と英語の「jogging(走る)」を合わせた造語で、スウェーデン人アスリートのエリック・アルストロム氏(Erik Ahlström)が自己ベストではなくゴミ拾いに専念したランニングとして2016年に始めました。その活動は瞬く間に世界中に広がり、今や世界100ヶ国以上で楽しまれる一大ブームとなっています。

その人気の理由は単に社会貢献になるからだけではありません。プロッガー(プロギングをする人のこと)自身にも様々な効果が期待できる自分のための活動にもなるのです。やればやるほど身体も心も、そして街もきれいに。それが人気の理由です。実は日本でもプロギングという言葉ができる前からランナーの中でゴミを拾う活動は広がっていました。
